Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung is a great idea for those travelers who reach the Everest region alone and join us from Chhukung to climb Island Peak. It is a 3-day program.
Chhukung is the meeting point. So, you will be picked up by our climbing guide and transferred to the tea house. He will explain everything about the trip and manage the trekking gear.
The next day, the trip begins to Island Peak base camp. Though the walking trail is rocky and hard, the views from the trail are astonishing. You can explore the southwestern side of Island Peak. En route, you will pass the Imja River first and the Lhotse Glacier.
On the last day, you are going to summit Island Peak, a dream project. The expedition needs to begin early in the morning because the day becomes foggy and windy after the afternoon on the summit. So, you will have breakfast and start the trip from the Island Peak Base Camp to the Island Peak Summit. It is a tiring walking day as you are going to walk on the steeply rocky, crevasses, glaciers, and icy, and sloppy trails. All the stuff will be reserved in the base camp and you will proceed ahead with a packed lunch, water, camera/mobile, and energy bars.
It is an ascending and steep path. As you go ahead, the path gets narrow to narrower. Finally, you will reach Island Peak High Camp. From there, the trekking to the glaciers begins. Then, you will reach Crampon Point after walking for almost 3 hours. Then, the crampons will be set up.
Reaching Imja Glacier from Crampon Point is not as challenging as it looks. However, our guide will set the rope on an icy congested track at an elevation of 5700 meters. Afterward, you will climb up steeply by stepping on the vertical walls of Island Peak and summit it. Finally, you will reach on top of the wonderful Island with the support of a guide, rope, and slopes. From there, you can explore the mesmerizing views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Lhotse Middle Peak, and other unnamed snowcapped peaks.
After spending some time for a photo shoot and relaxation, the trip will go down by retracing the previous ways. Descending from Island Peak is equally a difficult job, but it is a quick walk. Then, you will reach Chhukung by following the previous routes.
