Most foreign nationals require a tourist visa to enter Nepal. Obtaining a Nepal Tourist Visa is simple and convenient, as visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and designated land border entry points. Travellers may also obtain a visa in advance from the nearest Nepalese Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
Required Documents
- To obtain a Nepal Tourist Visa, you will generally need:
- A completed Visa Application Form (available online or upon arrival).
- A passport valid for at least six months from your date of arrival in Nepal.
- One recent passport-sized photograph (recommended).
- Payment of the applicable visa fee using an accepted payment method.
- The Government of Nepal reserves the right to grant or refuse a visa to any foreign national.
Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is available for most nationalities at the following entry points:

By Land (Nepal–India Border)

Travellers may also obtain a tourist visa in advance from the nearest Nepalese Embassy or Consulate.
Tourist Visa Fees (Multiple Entry)
- 15 Days: USD 30
- 30 Days: USD 50
- 90 Days: USD 125
Visa fees are determined by the Government of Nepal and are subject to change without prior notice.
Please note that once a visa has been issued, the visa fee is non-refundable, and the visa should generally be used within six months from the date of issue.
SAARC Nationals
Citizens of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) member countries — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka — are eligible for special visa provisions.
- Indian citizens do not require a visa to enter Nepal.
- Citizens of other SAARC member countries are generally eligible for a free 30-day tourist visa for their first visit in a visa year.
- For subsequent visits within the same visa year, the applicable tourist visa fees will apply according to current immigration regulations.

Visa Extension
If you wish to stay longer in Nepal, you may extend your tourist visa at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
To apply for a visa extension, you will generally need:
- Your passport
- One recent passport-sized photograph
- A completed visa extension application form
- Payment of the applicable extension fee
The current extension fees are:
- USD 45 for the first 15 days
- USD 3 per day for each additional day (within the valid visa period)
- USD 5 per day as a late fee for overstaying, subject to current immigration regulations
